KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Kirikiriroa Road Board was held at the Council Chambers, Hamilton East, yesterday afternoon. There were present : Messrs W. Chitty (chairlnan), T. Patcrson and R. Scddon. New Members.—The Clerk notified that Messrs W. Chitty, T. Paterson, John Gordon, R. Seddon and John Piimrose had been duly elected members of the Board. Mr Chitty was appointed chairman. Finance. —The Clerk reported that the assets of the Board amounted to £334 8s fid, less accounts to pay £lB3 13s 7d, leaving a balance of £loo 14s lid.— The Board considered that the financial position was most satisfactory, more especially as all the b : g road woiks for the year ha 1 been completed. Bridge Burnt.—Mr C. Starr, senr., of Ngaruawahia, stated that he had lately purchased Mr Parkes' property, and complained that tho bridge on the side of the railway had been burnt by a spark from the railway engine, and it was impossible to get a dray across.— The Chairman reported that the foreman had aheady taken this matter in hand.— The Board decided to put in a claim against the Railway Department for the cost of the bridge. Encroachment at Taupiri. -r- Mr G. T. Worthington wrote reporting that the work at the barrier to prevent the encroachment at the river bank at Taupiri was progressing satisfactorily. He had, he said, blown up the old barge which was hung up on a siug near the bank. He considered this had turned the current towards the bank and been the sole cause of all the trouble. Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for payment:—H. Hunt, £2 lfis; E. Hope, £1 Is; G. T. Worthington, £ls Is fid ; W. Fuller, £7 19s; W. Rumney, £7 Is ; R. E. Lovell, £4 ; T. and J. Moir, £4 13s fid ; D. Stewart, £3; J. Franklin, £lO ; M. Kieley, £9 ; H Welsh, £4 10s; C. Wallace, £2O; F. W. Littlewood. £(io 10s ; K. Waite, £32 10s 7d ; J. Ridler, £1 5i ; total, £lB3 13s 7d. * Rate.—The Clerk wa? instructed to give notice of the Board's intention to strike a rate of Id in the £. Foreman's Wages.—Mr Chitty raised the question of the foreman's wages, and said in consideration of the faithful manner in which he had carried out his diries, he thought the Board should make a slight increase in his wages in recognition of his services.- The mem • bers all spoke in the highest possible terms of Mr Franklin, the Foreman of Works, and it was unanimously decided to increase his wages from £2 to £2 5s per week.
