FATAL FIRE.
TWO CHINAMEN BURNT TO DEATH. SHORTLY after three o'clock yesterday morning a tiro b-okc out in Grey street on the pteimses occupied by Sam Kee and several other Chinamen as a laundry, the flames rapidly spread to the attached furniture shop of Mr Hadfield. The br gade was quickly on the scene, and succeeded in coi.fining the flames to the buildina, which was owned by Mr Neumegen, (BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT). Auckland, Last Night. The two shops, the scene of this morning's fire, owned by Neumegen, were insured in the National for £SOO. The contents of Sam Kee's lauudry were uninsured. The stock and furniture of Hatfield, cabinetmaker, were uninsured. The Chinamen burned to death were Sing Wiug, aged 30, and Willy Wall, aged GO. Sergeant Clark, in his fall from the verandah, broke a portion of his right hip bone, and it will be two months before he is fit to be about. Constable Doughctt, who was also injured, is confined to bed.
