FOOTBALL.

THE SEASON IN WAIKATO. The prospects of the coining football season are already being discussed, and we understand that it promises to be an exceptionally good one. Teams are already spoken of at Cambridge, Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Kihikihi, Ohaupo, Whatawhata and Hnntly. There is some talk of a Waipa Rugby Union, being formed in the interests of the upcountry clubs, but it will be a great pity if such is the case, as when only two or three clubs are competing for the champiouship no interest is taken in the game by the public The best plan would be to have a meeting called, so that all the clubs who intend joining the Union would have a chance to. attend and discuss the matter thoroughly. One Union in the Waikato ought to be sufficient if managed properly. We understand that several teams from the goldrields district intend paying a visit to the Waikato during the season.
