MESSRS MoNICOL&CO.'S AUTUMN HORSE SALE. At our nnnual autumn horse fair, h lit ia Cambridge on Friday, 25th tilt., about 250 horses were offered, but generally speaking the stamp was not up to the usual; no doubt the severe season had a good deal to do with it, as unless off-hard-feed horses were looking out of sorts and in rough condition. For Mr Hibb's contracting plant there was failcompetition, and everything was sold. The following are the prices:—D.F. ploughs, £4 to £ll : three-furrow plough, .£lO 5 waggon, £l2; tip dray, £l3; heavy draught hordes (really good sorts), £•22 10s to £26 10s; medium draughts, £ll 10s to £l9 ; aged medium draughts, £5 to £ll. Horses from other clients made as follows :—Medium draughts, young and sound, £l4 to £2O ; draughts, a shade lighter, £lO to £l3 ; aged sorts, £3 to £8; upstanding hacks were sparsely represented, £lO to £l3 ; useful hacks and stock horses, £3 us to £9 ; light harness horses, £4 to £7 ; ponies and weeds, £2 downwards. Altogether 181 horsc3 were sold. AUCKLAND MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report : Auckland Wool Stores, 29th March.—There was again a large supply of hides, skins and tallow at our weekly auction sale to-day, and the competition all round was brisk. Hides : We sold prime stout ox at 6d to 7d ; heavy stout, s]d to s£d ; medium, 4}d to 5d ; light, 3§d to 4Jd ; cow, sound, 3Jd to 3-jd ; scored and sloppy, 3jd to 3id ; kip, 34/1 to 4}d to 5.',d. Sheepskins : Salted pelts sold at Is 9d to 2s lid ; lambs', 2s 2d to 3s ; whilst picked brought 3s lOd. Tallow : Best sold at 13s to 13s 9d cwt ; medium, 12s to 12s 9d. Horse-hair in good demand at Is 3d to Is lb. for clean hair. Bones are selling at £3 10s to £3 153 ton. Oats : The shipments to hand this week are very short of requirements, and the market is at present bare. The Southern market has risen considerably during the past wtck. PreseDt quotations for C and D grades are equal to 2s 5d and 2s 4d respectively on wharf at Auckland. Maize : Heavy shipments are to hand this week, but, as the market was quite bare, the whole of the three cargoes to hand were quitted on the wharf at 2s 7d and 2s 7£d. We may look for a continuation of these prices for next week's arrivals, providing the shipments arc not too heavy. Chaff is coming to hand freely, and the most anxious buyers for the meantime have satisfied their immediate ncec\>;. The price is £3 10s at the railway. On Tuesday hides fully maintained their advanced values. Ox hides brought from 34d to s!d ; cow hides, 3]d to 3gd ; calfskins, 4d*to 5J,d the lb ; horseskins, 53 each ; ox tails, Is 4d the dozen; fat, lgd the lb ; tallow, 10s to lis the cwt ; sheep nelts advanced slightly, and ranged from lOd to 2s lOd ; lambs' pelts, Is 6(1 to 2s 9J ; 30 bales of wool and many bags and dumps brought full late values ; lambs' wool, 4Jd to 6(1 ; fleece, 5d to 6d the lb. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows in usual number were at late values ; those at profit were from £4 to £5 5s each. A full muster of store cattle were fairly competed for. Three year steers brought £3 10s and £4; steer calves, £1 ; mixed sexes, 12s ; dry cows, £1 to £1 13s each ; young and fat calves, above average number, sold freely, ranging up to £1 9s ; 64 sold. Fat cattle, in fully supply, 2GO yarded, kept last week's prices. Steers were from 16s to 18a ; cows, 12s to|l4a the, 1001 b ;

steers ranged from £4 15s to £8 12s lid ; cows, L"3 12s lid to £5 7s 0d each, .Sheep, in full number, near 1000 yarded, but no heavy weights, scarcely maintained last week's values. Wethers were from 5o to 10s 3d ; ewes, 3s 9d to 10s Gil each. Lambs, in usual supply, above 300 yarded, sold irregularly, and some passed.
