KIHIKIHI.
Domain Board.—At a meeting of the Kihikihi Domain Board, held on Friday last, March 25th, the following accounts were passed for payment: T. 11. White (Hamilton), £i 63 6d ; c!erk (R. Mainwarinq), £l. New Residf.st.-5. Mr McGechie and family arrived here last week, and are residing on the farm receutly purchased from Mr Laurie. As Mr McGechie is a practical farmer, and the farm i 3 one generally acknowledged to be first-class, wo have every confidence in wishing him and his family success, and wc accord him a hearty welcome to our midst. Roads. —As I have never omitted to blame the Waipa County Council in the past for their neglect and bad management of our roads, I feel it a pleasant duty now to report that this body have lately been making some amends. The Kihikihi - Orakau Road is now undergoing a great and long • needed improvement, and the famous Kihikihi'Tc Awamutu road of loan renown, is in a more shapely and improved state than it has been for many years ; and with the help of the sand and gravel' now being spread on some of the places which have each winter been veritable log holes, and another cleaning out of the side gutters—if the Council can see their way to do this—the road will not be in the same disgraceful state duriuc; the coming winter.'that it has beeii for many past winters. Ckown Lands.—Mr C. Elmsly, of this place, informs me that he has taken up a Eection (about three hundred acres) of the Wharepuhunga Block, some fifteen miles from Kihikihi, and which was recently thrown open for selection by the Government. Mr Elmsly speaks highly of the quality of much of the land in this block ; and he has already commenced fencing, using the timber of which there is a plentiful supply on his section. Several other farmers in this loca'ity lately been on a tour of inspection, "iffnd it is more than likely that other sections of the same block will be taken up very shortly. I'he Huntly Meeting.—The natives who left this district in iargc numbers to at f eud the big meeting at Huntly, are dow gradually returnim- and the township is regaining its more lively appearupue.—(Own Correspondent).
