TE AWAMUTU.

Town Boaud.—A meeting of the Town Board was held on Friday eveuing last. The Commissioners present were : Messrs J. L. Mandeno (chairman), Ceo. Ahier, Wm. North, F. Gibson, and J. B. reasdalc.—Mr S. Bond gave notice to the Board of his intention to fence in Lot No. 333 opposite the creamery, as it formed a portion of his adjo ; mng property.—Cr. Teasdale pointed out that it was the property of the Wuipa County Council, and has been used as a public road for some years, aud doabted very much whether the Council would agree to a fence being erected.—After some further discission the matter was allowed to drop, Mr Bond being informed that it was it matter for the County Council to deal with. —The poundkeeper's books were produced as requested at the last meeting.—lt was resolved to call tenders for the formation and gravelling of Tom Bond's hill, Crs. Gibson and North being authorised to accept teuders.—Mr Bearsley is to be employed to clean out the watertablcs extending from the bridge up to Mr Kay's dwellinghoiue.—A short discussion took place with regard to the favouritism shown in connection with the impounding of different people's stock, complaints having been received that certain individuals cow 3, etc., were allowed to roam on the streets, while others were pounded immediately.—The Clerk was instructed to ecikl all final notices to clear furze, etc.

Accident.—A painful accident happened Mr A. H. Storey on Saturday afternoou last. He was chopping some firewood, when the axe swerved off, striking the unfortunate young man on the instep, inflicting a nasty wound. On beiog examined by Dr. Pairman it was found necessary to stitch up the wound. Some of the sinews and smaller veins were cut, and it will no doubt be some time before wc shall see " Joe " on his feet again. We all wish him a very speedy recovery. Football.—The annual meeting of the football club takes place on Saturday evening next.—(Own Correspondent).
