NGARUAWAHIA.

Ladies' Rowing Club. —A most successful concert and dance was held in the Town. Hall on the evening of the regatta in aid of the funds of the Ngaruawahia Ladies' Rowing Club. The hall was crowded, every available seat used, and close on £l2 was taken at the door. This will place the club in a goo 1 position financially, paying the debt on the boats anil leaving a respectable b 1ancc in hand. Great credit is due to Miss Paterson, whose untiring efforts have brought about this satisfactory state of affairs. The programme, which was an excellent one, was as follows : Duet, Misses Soppett and Fitzpatrick '. soug, " Kathleen Mavourneen," Miss Paterson ; comic song, *• Riddle-mc-ree," Mr Lloyd. This item was giv<n in his usual ' fetching ' style, and he had to respond to an encore. Duet, " Love's Serenade," sweetly rendered by Miss Paki and Miss Aubrey ; " The Song of Sleep," by Mr Lees ; soug, " The Clang of the Hammer," Mr Suelling ; soug, " Look Back," Mr Rein*, who responded to a decided encore with " Edelweiss " ; song, " The Gallants of England," Mr F. Hunt ; song, " A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss," Miss Sharps (encored) ; song, " Steering Home," Mr Gartou. This brought the first part to a close. After an iuterval of ten minutes the second part opened with a pianoforte solo by Miss Ada Fitzpatrick ; song, " The Romany Lass." Mr Paterson ; song, " Love's Old Sweet Song," Miss Madaline Clayton (encored) ; duet, '* The Happy Policeman," by Miss Paterson anl Mr Snelling. The parts were excellently taken, and the performers were recalled. Soug, " The Diver," Mr F. James ; song, " Dublin Bay," Miss Reid, who responded to a most imperative encore with the last verse ; comic song, " She Always Dressed in Black," Mr Lloyd (encored) ; song, " They All Love Jack, "Mr Garton. The last item was «' The Fan Song," by Miss N. Aubrey and the Miss n s Paterson. The concert concluded with the National Anthem, immediately alter which the hall was cleared for the customiry dance. Miss Soppett, assisted by Miss Snelling and Miss M. Paterson, presided at the piano during the concert, and the dance music was provided by the Misses Soppatt and Snelling on the piano and Mr Garton on the violin. Dancing was kept up till midnight-, when all disperssd to their respective homes, somewhat tired out after their long day.—(Own Correspondent).
