NGARUAWAHIA.
Wesleyan Church Anniversary.—On the evening of Monday, 7th inst., a concert, whinh partook of a sacred nature, was held in the Town Hall in aid of the Ngaruawahia Wesleyan Chu'rch. The seating accommodation of the Hall was taxed to the utmost, the attraction being Miss Alice Rimmer, who rendered some half-dozen songs in her usual wellknown style. The programme was as follows :—Song, "The King's Own." Mr F. Hunt (encored); soug, "The Gates of the West," Miss Butcher ; song, "For the Children's Sake," Miss Rimmer, who responded to a hearty encore with " The Landing of the Pilgrim Fathers " ; violin duet, "Neapolitan," by the Misses Rimmer and Nixon, Miss Hunt accompanying on the piano; song, "Sweet Spirit Hear My. Prayer," Mrs Rothwell; song, " Calvary," Mr Meachem; song, " The Better Land," Miss G. Butcher; song, " Queen of the Earth," Mr Garton; song, " The Holy City," Miss Rimmer, who sang " He Wipes the Tear " as an encore. After an interval of 10 minutes the second part of the programme commenced with a recitation, " Not Understood," by Miss Houghton ; song, " The Last Master," Mr W. Pater6on ; song, "Ora Pro Nobis," Miss Clayton ; song, " Remember Now Thy Creator," Miss Rimmer ; duet, " Home Dearest Home," by the Misses Meachem ; song, " The Song I'll Ne'er Forget," Miss Patcrson ; song, " The Last Milestone," Miss Meachem ; song, " The Little Hero," Mr Meachem. The concert closed with the doxology. The accompaniments were played by the Misses Rimmer, Nixon ana Paterson. The concert was a great success, financially as well as otherwise, which must be gratifying to the promoters. On the previous Sunday anniversary services were held morning and evening in the Wesleyan Church. On both occasions Mrs Freeman preached and Miss Rimmer sang two solos.—(Own Correspondent).
