The ttvo day's benefit race meeting, organised by the Auckland Trotting Club iu aid of the sufferers by the bush fires on the West Coast of the North Island, commenced to-day at Epson), in the presence of about 1500 spectators. The following were the results : Maiden Trot.—Mr Higgins' Nell 1, Mr Greenwood's Waitekatiri 2, Mr Craig's Mihangi 3. Won by 30 yards. Dividend (10s tickets), £2 2s. Pony Flying.—Mr Murphy's Par tan Jeanie 1, Mr Greenwood's Topsail 2, Mr O'Meara's Uukuown 3. Dividend, £1 9a. Benefit Trot. Two miles. —Mr Hird's Pioke 1, Mr J. Baker's Old Judge 2, Mr Gage's Fibre 3. T ime, 5m 4s. Dividend, £2 s'. Acceptances for all events to be run on the first day, and also for the Steeplechase on the second day, of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's annual race meeting, close with the Secretary (Mr F. Vercoe) at 9 o'clock this evening. The attention of the supporters of Ruby in the Handicap Trot at Claudelands on Saturday last is directed to an advertisement in this issue, requesting them to forward their names at once to the Secretary of the Club (Mr W. Bright). Hamilton. The train arrangements for the Ohinemini races, to be held at Paeroa on Thursday and Friday, 17th and 18th March, will be found advertised on oar third page.
