The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report :—Auckland Wool Stores, 2nd March.—The catalogue at our weekly sile on Tuesday was again a very lengthy one. Hides : All stout hides were in keen demand at fully equal to pievious week's rates, but there was a slight weakness it) the market for light hides. We sold : Prime stout ox at 6J to 6«d ; heavy stout, 4Jd to to beat lines, 3;Jd to 3£d ; extra stout, to 4d ; sloppv and scored brought 3Jd to 3Jd ; kip,"3d to 3M ; stags, 2|d to 2UI. Horsehair sold to Is 4d per lb ; cowhair is worth 9d to lOd. Bones, £3 to £3 5s per ton. Cats: The maikct is very bare, and sales arc being made at 2s 4M to 2s 5d c.i.f, to arrive in about a week. Maize : Present rate is 2s 6d on the wharf, but not very strong. Howeve-, as there was a small shipment to Sydney on Monday and prospects of a large one the coming week, the matket should remain at the level of 2« 6d on wharf, or 2s 7d 2x store. Chaff: The market is firm at £3 at rail. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons' Weekly Report.—At the Haymarket meadow hay has brought from 2s 9d to 3s Gd ; oaten sheaves, 3s ; pressed hay, 3s Gd ; chaff, 3s Gd ; potatoes, 3s 6d ; bonedust, 6s ; guano, 3s Gd cwt ; oats, 2s 4d to 2s 8d ; maize, 2s 8d ; cocksfoot, 7s ; Poverty Bay ryegrass, 6s ; Canterbury ryegrass, 4s 6d ; Italian, 2s bushel ; maize on wharf, 2s 5d 10 2s 6d bushbl. On Friday, horse stock fairly represented were of late values. On Tuesday hide 3in full number were in steady demand at last week's values. Limbskins : Lamb's, Is 8d to 2s 4d each ; dumps and bags hmb's wool, 4Jd to sid ; fleece wool, 5d to Gjd ; locks, 2d lb. At Pukekohe on Monday, a large muster of cattle were yarded. Dairy enws at pO- - were from £3 7s 6.1 to £5 10s ; fat cows, £3 15s to £4 ; fat steers, £5 to £6 2s 6d ; fresh conditioned cows, £2 2s 6d ; weaned calves, 14i to £1 3a eich. At Reu.uera on Thursday, dairy cows in usual number were eagerly competed for at an advance over late values, and ranged from £4 10s to £6 5i each. Calves in full number, generally heavy weights, Mere at low values ; 60 sold. Young calves were from 2s to 5s ; lncdium-bized, to 8s ; heavy calves, 14a to £1 5s each. Fat cattle it> full number:.; 2G4 sold, of which near onehalf were cows ; prices irregular. Last week's values, 10s to 17s for steers and cows 12s to 13s the 1001 b, wcie the.ruling values. Steers ranged from £5 to £8 12s Gd; cows, £2 12s Gd to £5 7s 6d fcspectively. Sheep in less than usual number, and geueiully of medium quality, were better worth from Is to 2s each ; wetheis were from 7s 3d to lis 3d ; ewes 0* 9d to 10s Gd each. -Lambs also in shoit supply, 230 sold, shared in the advance. Pries ranged from 6s 6d to 10s 9d each. Pigs in'moderate supply. but all well bred, 34 sold, scarcely kept late values. Porker& ranged from lis to 31s each.

Heavy carcases are in full supply, and considerably less money has to be accepted. Dunedin sheep, when in good condition, have found special favour with buyers, and for these about 3d per lb has on average been realised. Australian descriptions have participated in the general decline, and cannot now be quoted at more than 2fd per lb. Frozen beef for the most part has met a dragging sale, at lower rates, but at the close with short supplies of American a firmer tone prevails. To-day's quotations at Smithtield arc :-Primc selected New Zealand mutton, 3s Id to 3s 4d per 8 lb ; average do., Is lOd to 2s 2d : Aus traliau mutton, Is 7d ; prime New Zealand lamb (nominal), 3s to 3) 4d ; Australian bet fores, Is yd to Is 8d ; do. hinds, Is lOd to 2s 2d.
