CREMATION.
to the editor. Fir, —An important article on " Burial and Cremation " appeared in the Loudon Times of 22th December last. It appears a want of space for interments is again being felt, and the County Council will apply to Parliament for power to erect crematories at the public expense. On sanitary grounds also cremation is Considered most desirable " by the act of interment;" Sir Henry Thompson says : —" We literally sow broadcast through the land innumerable seeds of pestilence, which long retain their vitality, many of them destiued at some future time to fructify in premature death or ruined health for thousands." Crematories are in operation at Woking, Manchester, Glasgow and Liverpool, and there is no complaint of any nuisance. If there are any persons in Waikato who would like to see a crematory erected in a central position, perhaps they will be good enough to send in their names to the office of the Argus.--I am, etc., Senex.
