The House of Commons rejected an amendment condemning the severity of the Indian Sedition Laws, and adopted the Address* in-Keply. The Council and Governor-General of India have passed the Bill amending the laws in relation to sedition. Rear-Admiral W. J. Wharton, hydro grapher to the Navy, has been selected chairman of the committee appointed to deal with the proposal to establish an all-British cable between England and Cape Colony and between the Cape and Australia.
