We had a very full floor ol hides, skins and tallow at our auction today, competition all round beinp brisk, and prices showing an upward tendency. Hides : We sold prime stout ox .at Gd to 6ld ; heavy stout ox, 5d to sjd ; medium ox, 4}d to 4£d ; light, 35*1 to 4d. Cowhides wire again keenly competed for, best lines 3Jd to 3|d. We sold specially picked up to 4|d ; starts, 2g-l to 2sd ; kip, 3M to 3]d ; calf, best, 44d to s}d ; small and cut, 3|d to 4d. Sheepskins : Lambs range in price from Is 3d to 2s Id ; salted pelts from Is 3d to la, lid : limed pelts, lambs, 5s dozen ; crossbred, 8s 3d. Tallow in good demand, beat selling at 13s 9d. medium lis 9d to 12s 9(i. We fold picked for the tanner's use up to 15* : rough fat, Id to l£d lb. Wool : The market remains firm. We have sold several parcels lately at tha full level of last tales, and have a moderate catalogue to offer at our sale on 23rd iust. On Friday, horses yarded uumcrously wore at late values. Heavy draught brought from £ls to £23; medium draught, £8 to £l3; riding horses, £4 to £l2 each. Spring cart, horse, and harness, £2l; tax cart, £l9 15a ; waggon, £ls -15 s, were the prices given. On Tuesday, hides in moderate supply were firm at late quotations. At Rcmuera, on Thursday, dairy cows, in usual number, were in fairsupply. Cows at profit were from £4 5s to £6 ; heifers. £3 10s to £3 12s Gd each ; young and fat calves in unusual number, above 100 sold ; although not so high as last week, ratistactory prices were obtained ; prices for those of moderate size were from 7a to lGs; heavy calves up to £1 8s each. Fat cattle in full number ; 240 yarded; prices were firm at last week's quotations; for steers, 16s to 17s; cows, 14s the 1001 b; prices for steers were from £5 to £8 2s Gd; cows, £4 to £6 2s Gd each Fat sheep in average Dumber, 1100 sold, were at similar values to last week ; wethers were from 6* 91 to 9s Ud ; ewes, 5s 3d to 7a 3.1 ea.;h. Store ewes, 160' sold, brought from 3s 3d to 4s Gd each. Fat and store lamb 3 fairly represented ; 3G4 sold ; store lambs, 2s 3d to 3 J Gd ; fat lambs, 6s to 9s each. Pigs in better supply than for many weeks ; many of large size ; heavy pi" 3 at relatively low values; light and moderate-weight porkers at full values.
