Attacked by a Cow.—On Monday last Mr J. G. Berry had a narrow escape of serious injury from a cow, which trespassed ii to a field of young maize. Mr IJerry set his dog on to the cow to drive it out, and succeeded iu driving her into a corner of the paddock. He was about to open the gate to let her through when the cow, enraged by the attack of the dog, suddenly rushed Berry, win was quite unable to avoid tho attack owing to its suddenness, but succeeded in turning her horns on one side. One, however, c night him under the armpit, throning him into the air. He turned a complete somersault and fell Inavily. When on the ground the enraged brute attacked him again, but fortunately the dog came to the rescue by seizing the cow by the nose. Several of the suppliers were able to get to the l'atcrangi creamcry*instead with their milk, so their loss was nil. An engineer was sent up from town to repair the damage, and the factory is once more at work ; but it is expected considerable work will have to be done yet to the engine to put it in thorough working order.
