Farewell.—The Rev. C. A. Lyou con ducted his farewell service at the Waitntuoa schoolroom on Sunday week last. There was a large congregation. Mr Lyon left on Thursday for Gore, taking" with him the good wishes of all for his prosperity in his new sphere of action.

School. —1 he school rc-opened on 31st January, and the children seemed to rind it hard work after the long play, and the attendance was not up to the usual number during the first week. At the standard examination, held some time ago, all the children passed except oce, which must be very gratifying to the teacher and th*ir parents. Frost.—The frost on the 3rd inst. has done considerable damage to the crops in this district, potatoes, maize, pumpkins and melons beiug cut to the ground. Maoazine Club.—The annual meeting of the subscribers to the Tc Uku Magazine Club will be held at the Te Uku Post-cffice on Wednesday next, the 9th February, at 4 p.m., when all subscribers are requested to attend.
