MEETING OF RATEPAYERS.

A meeting of the ratepayers of the Kirikiriroa Road District was held at the Couticil Chambers, Hamilton East, at 3 p.m. yo-terday. There were 13 present, and Mr John Cordon occupied the chair. Tno Clerk read the notification of the meeting, as advertised as follows : " In pursuance of the provisions of Section 122 of " The Public Works Act, 1594," the lviiiklriroa Read Board hereby call a meeting of the ratepayers of the Kirikiriroa Road District to be held in the Waikato County Council Chamber, Hand 'ton East, at 3 in the afternoon, on Fiiday, the fourth day of February, 1898, to decide whether or not a read running between Allotment. Number 227 and Allotment Number 237 of the Parish of Kinkiriroa shall be stopped."

The Chairman then called for a show of hands, with the result that the read was declared closed by a majority if 12 votes to 1.

It was decided to engage Mr E. L Hope to act as valuer for the Boaid. Mr Smith, who opposed the doing of the read so strenuously, was not present.
