M'NICOL AND CO;S SHEEP FAIR.

There was a large attendance of buyers at Messrs McNicol and Co.'s first sheep fair at Ohaupo yesterday, and notwithstanding the uncertain outlook, owing to the protracted dry weather, the eale was most satisfactory, prices being fully eaual to those ruling at the early sales last year. In not a few cases vendors, in overrating the effect upon prices of the dry season, had fixed reserves which proved too low, much to their satisfaction, and taking this as a line, prices generally ruled above what was anticipated. As usual bidding was slow to start with, and a good few pens, piiucipally fat sheep, were passed in. As the sale proceeded a better tone prcra : led, and when two or three outside buyers began to operate the bidding became decidedly brisk, and the auctioneer's persuasive powers were not nearly so greatly taxed, scarcely a lice being passed. Good lambs, young breeding nheep, aud freshconditioned wethers seemed to command best relative prices. The following is a list of the lots sold and the pricis realised : M. S. Laurie—Fat wethers : J.
