The Waikato Argus Office, Monday. MR W. J. HUNTER’S TE AWAMUTU SALE. Mu W. J. Hunter’s usual monthly sale took place on Saturday last. There was a very fair attendance of farmers and others present Farm horses, sold from £7 to £2O ; young pigs, 7s to 13s ; locally grown lemons, 3s 6d per box. There was a larger number of cattle yarded than usual, but prices were low.—(Own Correspondent). CLEARING SALE AT TE KOWHAI. Mr W. J. Hutek reports : At Mr J. H. Kelly’s clearing sale to-day there was a good attendance, and everything sold under good competition. Prices were : 121 wethers, 7s 3d ; 21 two and two-and-a-half-year-old steers, £2 10s ; ewes and lambs, 8s a couple ; dray, £lO 10s ; tine harrows, £3 3s ; furniture and all other articles at good prices. Turner’s Weekly Report. — The volume of fruit coming forward this week has been very large, especially apples and plums, both of which have a downward tendency. Peaches have not been so plentiful, and have sold well. Potatoes are short of requirement. Poultry of all descriptions in good demand. Below is my highest and lowest price for the past week, privately or by auction :—Apples, Is to 3s Gd case, halfcases Gd to 2s ; pears, Id to 2jd lb ; plums, to lb ; peaches, 2d lb, and 4d to Is 3d dozen ; grapes, Gd to Is 2d lb ; Capo gooseberries, 4d to 5d lb ; tomatoes, to 3d lb ; oranges, 10s box ; bananas, £l2 to £ls ton. The s.s. Moaua arrived this afternoon with a fine shipment of pines, bananas, etc. The whole of the shipment was consigned to this firm, all of which were sold freely on the wharf. Apricots, poor colour Ud lb, good colour 4d to 4£d lb ; water melons, 5s to 9s dozen ; passion fruit, 5s to 6s box ; cucumbers, 2s to 4s dozen ; f)eunuts, 2d lb ; cocoanuts, Gs to 7s sack ; emons, 3s Gd to 7s case ; walnuts. 5d to 6d lb. Onions : Norfolk Island, £5 ton ; Sydney, £6 ton ; potatoes, round £5 to £6 ton, kidneys £6 10s to £7 10s ton ; cheese, factory, 4d to 5d lb ; fowls, hens Is 3d to Is Gd, roosters Is Gd to 2s ; geese, 2s 6d to 3s 6d ; turkeys, hens, 3s to 4s Gd ; ducks, Is to 2s ; pine apples, 15s CIS', Mr Alexander Aitken’s Retort.— The full glut of the fruit crop is now being felt, and those who receive the smallest consignments are the best off. The Anniversary holiday falling on Saturday spoilt to-day’s prices. Plums, tomatoes, etc., sustained a heavy fall in values and for the next week or so results will continue low, although I anticipate good prices, after the period mentioned. Dairy butter is almost out cf the market, and in consequence the Association brand has risen to Is per lb. Eggs are firm. Chaff and potatoes are weak, but the latter should rise again directly. Poultry is again bringing payable returns. Pigs still about the same as last reported.
