w ENGLAND V. AUSTRALIA. The fourth test match was commenced at Melbourne on Saturday last. The first innings of the Colonials (who were the first to bat) opened disastrously, the score at one time being six wickets for 30 rune. Trumble and Hill then became partners, and they retrieved the " disgraceful rot of the earlier part of the day." At the close of the day's play the Australians had lost seven wickets for the very respectable score of 275. The following are the individual scores : Austbalians—First Innings.
