NOMINATIONS for Handicaps, with fees, to be in the hands of the Secretary by 8 p.m. on FRIDAY, 2lst January, 1898. 3. WEIGHTS to be declared on or about TUESDAY, February Ist, 1898. 4. ACCEPTANCES and GENERAL ENTRIES, with fees, to be in the handa of the Secretary, Tauranga, by 8 p.m. on WEDNESDAY, February 9th, 1898. 5. If a walk over only half stakes will be given. 6. Owners and trainers training horses on the course without permission from the Secretary will be disqualified. 7. Races to be ridden in proper costume. Attention is called to this rule, as it will be strictly enforced under a penalty of Isov. 8. No nomination or acceptance will be received under any pietence whatever after the hour named or without the necessary amount of cash. 9. Winners to pay 5 per cent, of their gross winnings towards the expenses of the course. 10. A Hack means a horse that has never started in any race other than a hack race, C. F. HULME, 11/1 Secretary.
