Thk Spaniards have captured Esperanzs, the rebel seat of Government in Cuba. It is reported that in New York 30,000 empleyees are affected by the strike among the New England cotton-spin-ners. Delegates representing three million friendly society members have asked for a prohibition against the compulsory insurance of workmen in the recently estab lished Employees' Benefit Society. France and the United States have renewed negotiation?, with a view of adopting a reciprocal tariff between the two countries.
