WAIKATO MOUNTED INFANTRY.

A parade of the above corps was held on Saturday afternoon last, when the new uniforms were worn for the first time. The uniform consists of Kharkee with light blue facings, brown leggings, and white helmet with blue pugiree, and it certainly is a most sensible and suitable one, for such weather as we are experiencing just at present. However, we understand that this is only a working rig-out, and that in all probability the corps will be clad in dark green ere long. After a few movements had been executed in a creditable manner, in Knox-street, and ammunition had been served out, Colonel Banks took command and the company repaired to the rifle range for volley firing. We have been unable to obtain the total scores,as they are not yet public property, but Colonel Banks assures us that they are most satisfactory, considering the small amount of practice the majority of the members have had. If possible we shall publish these later on. The Colonsl was highly pleased with the appearance of the men about 50—and considers the Kharkee uniform a most serviceable one. An attempt is beiDg made to establish a rifle club to le composed of Hamilton and Cambridge residents, and a good deal of interest is being taken in the movement. The number of members required i 3 GO, and Colonel Banks is inclined to look favourably upon the proposal, bub will not entertain the notion if it is likely to interfere with the newly - formed troop.
