PIRONGIA.
Tetahi Road.—Mr W. C. Hursthonse, Government District Surveyor, was here on Saturday last, and fixed on the new line of road to the Tetahi settlement. The new road will s'art from a point opposite Mr Arthur Ormsby's farm, and will be some two miles in length. Mr W. H. Adams with a party is now engaged on the survey, and when completed the road is at occe to be made. Rain.—A steady rain fell here on Sunday night, and continued up to early morning, which was much wanted. Another good shower last night was also welcome. Large Eel.—On Thursday last Dick Turner here had capital sport with a large eel at Kaipiha. Dick wa& upwards of an hour diving for it with his hook ready before he succeeded in getting it into the eel, as it was in a hole in the bottom of the Waipa, where a bed of rock runs right across the river. When hooked we thought it was a record one, it fought so hard to cet away ; but on measuring it found it sft. 2in. in length, 18in. in circumference, and weight just over 301 b. It was. a fine fish, however, with a most delicate flavour. His brother Henry hooked one a year »r two back out of the tame place, which weighed 461b.-(Own Correspondent).
