NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Wednesday at Ohote. Present : Messrs Corboy (chairman), J. H. Kelly and W. Clow. Defaulters, r- The Clerk was instructed to request Mr Dyer to take out distress warrants in the cases where judgment bad been secured and the money not yet paid. Bank Charges.—lt was decided not to sign the form agreeing to the payment of lod 6d par half-year for keeping the Board's account, and that if the Bank of New Zealand insist upon the conditions, that the ac:ount be transferred to another bank. Aitmcations Fur Works.—Mr J. Macrcdic wrote, asking that tho road from Martin's gate through Kelly's farm may be opened, it being at present unfit for traffic.— Mr C. Bycroft wrote, requesting that some work be done to the I'ukcte swamp road bifo-c the wet weather sets in.—Members to inspect the roads and repoit at tho next meeting.

Co-operative Society.—lt was decided not to take any steps to call a public meeting consequent on the circular from the Farmers' Co-operative Society until more information is available.

Badfoed's Contract.—The contractor is to bo given notice to resume work forthwith, Bating on Cnimfroved Valdes. —lt was decided to request the W aipa County Council to empower the Board to bring this system into practice, and that the Newcastle Town Board be requested to co-operate. Tenders.—Tenders are to bo called for Blackert's drain and Saulsbrcy's road work, to be in before next meeting.

No. u Contract.—lt was decided to pay Mr Jcncs, the contractor, .C2O on account.

Clearing Furze.—The cost of clearing furze from their respective sect-ons was ordered to be charged to Messrs Kay, Corbett, Edgecumbe and Harding. Accounts. —The following sums were passed for payment: Thomas Jones, £2O ; W. D. Laxon, 5s ; F. Osier, 18s.
