RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.
0 SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of this Council was hi-Id in the Council Chambers, Raglan, on Wednesday afternoon. There were present ; The Chairman (Cr. Mathias), and Crs. Bankart and Lascelles (Karioi Riding), Bruce (Pirongia Riding), and McGuirk (Karamu Riding). Tenders.—The following tenders were dealt with :—Opoturu ferry: Samuel Vercoe, £l2 (accepted). Huntly Punt Ferry: McFarlane, £22; Recslon, £l2 12s ; Lutener, £l. MeFarlaue's tender was accepted. Tuakau Punt: Esau Gales, £3O (accepted). Cleaning Whatawhata Bridge : D. F. Scott, 5s per month and 2d per foot lineal planking (accepted). Contract No. 40—Embankment near Picken's, Waingaro : Armstrong and Wilson, £l3 10s; Osborne, £9 15s ; Saunders, £l2 ; Karaka, £8 10s ; Matiaha, £l3 7s 6d. Kaiaka's tender was accepted. Contract No. 45: Lutener, £l9 10s, and 30s per chain for gravel; Gales, £l9 10s, and 50s for gravel; Saunders, £8 4s. Saunders' tender was accepted. Con'ract No. 46: Hone Rawiri's tender at £lB was accept ed. Haebouk Board Lkases —The sub-, ject of several lots in Harbour Board Reserve was considered, the rents being in default, but it was deferral for final consideration uutil next meeting. Govj'.knmknt Gkants.—The subject of the various grants voted during the last sess'on 'or this County met with consideration, amongst ethers being that of the grant of £2OO for the Raglan-Waipa Eoad,—The clerk was instructed to write (o the Department asking when the grant would be available, and on receipt of the information the following sums were allocated to works to be proceeded with on several bad places :—On mountain section, £2O; Waitctuna bridge approaches, £2O ; the Hat on the road near La Trobe's, £3O; on road about Petty's, Sutton's and Douglas', £3O ; on portions of road from Raglan to Mangatawhiri, £3O; near Whatawhata Bridge £3O, and at Mile Flat £4O. Deviation.— The Inspector of Works was instructed to lay off the grade on the road near Higgison's and procure tracings. Waingaro Election.—The Clerk in formed the Council that the result of the Waingaro Riding Election was Hewett 29, Hetherington 26, McDonald 7, the former being returned. Wharf Shed.—Fresh tenders are to be called for the lease of the old wharf shed, the one received not having been accepted. Next Meeting.—The Council concluded their business at 6 p.m., and will meet at Ngaruawahia in the first week in February next.
