As the outcome of the late disastrous fire in Gore, one of the firms whose premises and books were destroyed are making application to the makers of the fire-proof (?) safe containing their business documents, which were reduced to ashes, for substantial compensation on account of the not fulfilling the guarantee supplied by the makers, The Ensign says that should the safe-making firm iu question not " come down with the dust," it is the intention of the local business combination mentioned to exhibit the safe and otherwise draw puclic attention to the alleged defective workmanship.
