Messrs Alfred Bcckland and Sons' Weekly Report.—At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cows, iu usual number?, made from £3 to £6 17s. Store cattle, few were yarded, at late values. An average market of beef met with abetter demand ; 230 sold. Well-fatted st'.crs brought from 15s 1o 17s the 1001 b; cows, up to 14s tho ICOlb. Prices for steers were from £5 to £S 10s ; cows, £2 17s Od to £5 53 ; cahes, fewer yarded than usual, met with a better market ; 50 told. Sheep in usual supply ; 1200 sold were better worth. Well-fatted wethers were from 7s to lis, ewes from 5s to 7s 9d ; lambs, 350 sold, were from 5s to 7s. Bones : The market is weaker, and present price is £3 to £3 2s 6d per ton. Oats: The market is firm, but the business passing in th's line is inconsiderable. Present c.i.f. quotations are 2s 2Jd to 2s 3d. Maizo : Owing to a strong demand from Sydney, the market continues firm. We sold 750 sacks at equal to 2s 51 per bushel on the wharf. Chaff : Only small sales are being made now at £4 s', sa:ks extra, for local. Quotations from the South are too high to allow sales to be made here. Messrs Huntkb and Nolan's Weekly Revort. Horsefced, grain, Owing to the holidays there lias been little doing and no noteworthy alteration in value. Horses : There has beeri considerable activity in the market, more particularly in blood stock, and the result of the annual sales showed an adVdnco in value of fa>hionab!e strains, while prices for others were in favour of the purchaser. At Sylvia Park a clearance could not be made, as buyers hold* back for the absolutely unreserved sales. The "Wellington Park annual sa'e, held on Tuesday, was an unqualified success, aud price* exceeded expeditions. Details have already been published. Wool, hides, skins, tal'ow, bones: Quite a large catalogue was goue through under brisk competition at tho Durham Yards en Wednesday. We quote : Prime ox hidi s, 5d to 6d lb; medium to stout, 31d to 44d ; steers and cow, 2.fd to 3kl ; calfskins, 4J to 5d ; tallow, 10s Od to Pis c»vt ; bones, £3 53 ton ; sheepskins, from 13 6d to 5s 0M ; lambskins, lOd to Is 91 ; pelts, 5d to la Id. Cattle : Barely an average number of fat beasts were yarded, but there were a good many dairy aud stores brought forward, and changed hands at prices slightly in favour of the vendor. At Newmarket . on Wednesday below average ninribcrs wera yarded. Competition for all descriptions was steady, and prices had an upward tendency. The usual Papakura monthly sale was hold ou the same day. The lain was continuous, but it hid no damping effect on the sale, as prices were markedly in favour of the vendor for loth dairy and store stock. Sheep were barely sufficient for requirements, and values advanced slightly. Pigs : Few were yarded without altcratic n in ralue.
