WAINGARO.
Pisioultuhk.—On Friday, 171.1 i inst., Mr Wilson brought from Ngaruawahia ICOO rainbow trout fiy, which have been successfully put into the Kahnhuru ar.d Waingaro creeks and some of the smaller tributaries These streams have all cle.ir shingle bottoms, and are admirably suited to the w&nts of the fish. Polo.—On Saturday, 18th inst., the Hot Springs Polo Cluti held their second practice match in Mr P.cken's paddock, and had a very enjoyable afternoon's play. Mrs Picken kindly dispensed afternoon tea, to wlvch all did justice. There ore now two polo clubs in the Waingiro riding, and we may soon hear of a match between the two. The Waingaro Polo Cub were to have a practice match in Mr Vernon's paddock on Saturday, the fiist of the season, and being the senior club has a number of very good players ; but the junior club hope soon to be able to try conclusions with them. The distance between the place tf meeting and the players' resifltntes caused the establishment of the junior club. Wool. - Sheari"g : scomp'ctod throughout the district, and the wool is being .irtcd to the landing at the head of the Raglan harbour, and taxes to the utmost the capacity of the stores ended by the settlers some years s'ueo. In the near future Loth stores and wharf accommodation must be increased to meet the. erer-increasi: g trallic. The clip has been a fairly gcod one, no'withstanding the very wet and stormy season we have experienced, and it is to be hoped producers may cet an adequate re;urn, bu*. I am afra'd the combinations among buyers nre likely to militate again.t producers, who are unfoitunatc'y without any combination. The necessity for it is every year becoming nunc and more apparent, and self pro'ection must force its adoption fooner or later. Raglan County Vacancy.—There are three Richmouds in the (i id who were nominated iu each case by one whose name appeared on the defaulters' list, though their rates had been paid. This proves in a most conclusive manner that if there is no power to amend the roll under the Counties Act, the sooner it is conferred the better ; in fact, it should be compulsory on the part of the executive of every local body to amend the roll so soon as the rates have been paid.
