The Houses of Parliament are partly lighted by 10,000 electric lumps, which number is being constantly increased. Fifty experienced electriciaus arc era ployed to keep the system in order. But there is still a yearly gas bill of over £2OOO. Tr.e " horror social" ia the latest function, at which everyone is expected to bung that which he has the most horror of. At one of these functions held recently some of the ladies took men, others mice, castor oil, Bpiderß, bicycles, arid grammars.
