The Waikato Argus Office, Wednesday. MR W. J. HUNTER'S OHAUPO SALE. On Tuesday at Mr W. J. Hunter's sale about 30(1 head of cattle were yarded, including fifteen bulls and about thirty dairy cows. Most of the former were sold at fair prices. Dairy cows seemed down a little in price, but for those of a good class there is still a demand. Calves and young stock were fairly numerous. Empty cows were in demand, and those of a good class and in condition sold well ; in fact many more could have been placed. Not many grown steers were offered, but there is still a demand for anything in that line of a good class, provided they show condition. Beef also sold well. The following prices were obtained :-Bulls : 1 at £3 10s ; 1 at £4 ; 1 yearling bull, £2 10* ; I eighteen-inonths-old bull, £4 2s Gd ; 1 two-year-old, £7 2s 6d. Dairy cows, from £3 to £4 14s ; springing heifers, from £2 10s to £3 l">s ; good steer calves, 20s ; small springing heifers, from £2 2s to t'2 9s ; yearling steers, from 25s to 30s ; IS-months-old steers, from 30s to 34s ; small calves, ISs ; grown steers in cood condition, £5 Is ; three-year-old steers, £3 Ss ; two-year-old do., £2 18s ; empty cows, from £2 2s to £2 10s, with a good demand ; empty heifers, from £1 15s to £2 10s. At Newmarket on Tuesday fat cows ranged from £3 12s 6d to £5 2s Gd ; dairy cows from £3 to £o 2s Gd ; steers, from £6 7s 6d to £S ss. One show cow brought £S 12s Gd. Ox beef ranged from 17s to 19s per 1001 b. Sheep : Wethers in wool, from 13s to 18s ; shorn wethers, lis to 14s Gd; lambs, Gs to 9s 3d. Hides: Extra stout ox, 4kl to s£(l ; ordinary, 3d to 4Jd ; cow and" steer, frcm 3d to 3-Jd ; calf skins, 3d to 4id ; sheepskins, from 4s Gd to 5s lid ; lambskins, Sd to Is 5d ; pelts, 9d to Is 2d; tallow, 113 9J per cwt. ; rough fat, Hd per lb ; bones, £3 12s Gd per ton ; wool in bales, skl to GJd.
