THE RETURN OF MR WARD TO THE CABINET.

Intelligent enemies of the Seddonitcs ■will reckon themselves in luck this week. Mr Ward is restored to his seat in the House. It is nn odd thing that the law should permit an uncertificated bankrupt to Bit in the halls of legislature and make laws for people who pay their debts. Bui wo don't complain ; not in the least ! The uncertificated bankrupt, is on the Seddon side of the House and constitutes in his person, history, and circumstances precisely that kind of boon which the other side would wish to confer upon it. If Mr Seddon would bo advised by me—but 1 am afraid he won't —I skould recommend him to lose no time in restoring Mr Ward to the Treasury. Is there anybody else as adept in the art and mystery of balancing ? Suppose a poetical and imaginative presentment of the public accounts were thought desirable for balancing day —the production, in fact, of whattho Opposition coarsely and libellously call a bogus surplus ; would Mr Seddon compare his own or Mr John M'Kenzic's blundering manipulations with the deft and practised handling available in Mr Ward ? For the purposes of the Seddon finance there cannot bo such a paragon of a Treasurer anywhere else extant. I positively pine and yearn to Bee him reappointed.—" Civis.
