Coscebt. —The cf.nceit in aid of St. John's Church repairing fund tonk place on Tuesday evening last in the Town Hull There was a very good attendance, and a capital programme was gone through consisting of the following items :—Song, " Lassie." Miss Ross (encored) ; Japanese Fan Dance, performed by children in costume; song, " Tlie Lost Chord," Mr Fell ; instrumental trio, Mesdatnes Kllis and Hutchinson (piano), Mr S. Armstrong (violin) ; song, " The Danube River," Mrs Andrew ; comic song, " Widow Malo-.ie," Mr S. Armstiong. This gentleman's comic songs fairly brought the hou-ic down " Caehuca," performed by children ; recitation, " Bush Christening," Mr c «. Lewis ; soug, " Our Jack's Come Home To day," Mr Ueaville ; scng, " Pierrot," Miss Ross ; violin solo, " Charlie is My Darling," Miss 1). Bowden ; Indian Club exhibition by Mr Prentice. This was one of the best items on the programme. Comic song, " Things Which are Better Not to Dwell on," Mr S. Armstrong, encored and gave his old favourite, " 0, It's Such a Horrible Talc " ; tableau, " "Where Are You Going To My Pretty Maid." The usual vote of thanks was accorded those who had kindly assisted. Musical Society.—Owing to some ot the members being unable to go to Cambridge, the society have abandoned the proposed performance of " Pinafore there, but have decided to give a per formancc in Te Awamutu early in December in aid of the band fund. Rehearsals will shortly be held, of which the members will receive notice.—(Own Correspondent).
