WAIRANGI.
Concert. —On Friday last a most successful concert was given in the Public Hal!, Wairangi, the building being crowded. Mr J. Boswell fulfilled the duties of Chairman in a most efficient manner. The following is the programme, most of the items of which were encored : —Selection on the bagpipes, Mr J. Cheyne (in full dress); part song, "Ring the Bell Watchman," choir; song, " Of a' the Airts," Mr Jas. Ross ; song, " Junnita," Miss Mears (encored); duet, "Larboard Watch," Messrs John and Alex. Ross ; song, " Ever of Thee,' 1 Miss Maggie Muir (encored) ; sons', " .Mary of Argyle," Miss Jessie Bruce (encored); duet, " What are the Wild Waves Saying," Miss and Mr Mclnnes ; song, " The Heart Bowed Down," Mr J. Meiklcjohn ; comic song, " Nobody Knows what Trouble was There," Mr R. Mears (encored); part song, "Silver Moonlight Whirls." choir ; song, "The College Belle," Miss Edith Muir (encored) ; duet, "List to the Convent Bells." ; soiia, " A Soldier and a Man." Mr J. Meiklcjohn (encored); part song, " The Bells," choir. The concert concluded with a farce, the parts being taken by Messrs F. Whyman and W. B. Lindsay. Miss Lindsay and Mr R. Mears played the accompaniments in a satisfactory manner. After the conclusion of the concert the hall was cleared aud dancing commeuccd, and was kept up with spirit until daylight, Mr John Ross making an efficient M.C., while the music was supplied by Messrs R. Matchctt, W. Bruce and AV. R. Lindsay.
