NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD.

Bomkiiky's Hill.—An application was received from Mr W. H. Wyman that the Board, now that the contract was let, have the road pushed on as quickly as possible, as some suppliers to the creamery have to trespass on private laud.—Mr 11. Booth, who took the contract, was in attendance, and stated that owing to having so much work on hand and the urgency of the settlers to have the road completed, he had determined to throw up the contract and forfeit his deposit. He had paid two days' wages for elcanng gorse. —The Board agreed to give Mr Aitkcn an opportunity of clearing the gorse himself, provided the work is done at once. The contract thrown up to be offered to Mr Jones, the next lowest tenderer, and if he refuses to take it up fresh tenders to be advertised. Contract No. 0. —It was agreed to give Mr IT. Booth an additional six chains of formation at 2s per chain, the work to be proceeded with at once.

Typhoid.—A letter was read from Mr Ferguson, of Whatawhata, enquiring whether the Board intended to take any steps to ascertain the cause (if the outbreak.—The clerk was instructed to write that the Board had not been notified of the outbreak, but so socn as they were the chairman would make inquiries. Bowman and Henrickskn's Road.— It was decided to have two additional (lav's work done on this road.
