HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. FRIDAY. C.vi'T. RtrssELL stated that the Opposition would be prepared t~> take tin; financial debate 0:1 Tuesday. A long debate arose upon Ministers moving the Sessional Committees. Objection was taken to the large proportion of Government supporter- named. Jn some cases the proportion was eleven to six. The Opposition members appealed to the Premier to agree to an adjournment of the debate. Mr Massey moved : "That instead of the Native Affairs Committee consisting of 17 members, it should only consist of 15." The debate lasted till 12 o'clock, when a division was taken, with the result that the amendment was lost by 27 to '2O, and the original motion carried. The House then adjourned.
