TROUBLE IN INDIA.
Calcutta, September 20. Colonel Jeffreys, after a smart fight on Sunday, drove the enemy to the hills and burnt their village, besides capturing a large quantity of supplies. The Mohmands lost heavily in the engagement. The Lower Mohmands have agreed to surrender their arms to the British, and to pay a fine. Brigadier-General Sirßindon Blood has been ordered to chastise the Marnoundi tribe. Brigadier-General Elles is advancing with a view to dispersing a body of 10,000 Upper Mohmand tribesmen at Yacobi. In the figbting at Fort Saragari 180 tribesmen were killed. The forces under Brigadier-General Blood and Brigadier-General Elles established connection on the 16th inst. Brigadier - General Westtnacott'a brigade has closed Nahaki Pass. Two Sikh cooks captured by the rebels at Fort Gulistan, were burned to death.
