MINE ON FIRE.

A TERRIBLE STRUGGLE. LOSS OF LIFE. f'VDNEY, September 13 A rniK has broken out in the Proprietary Mine, Broken Hill. A large number of men who are acquainted with the mine volunteered for service below. The noxious funics from the burning of Oregon pine prevented the seat of the fire being reached. Over two hundred men are below fighting the fire. Fifty men have been remove 1 to the Hospital in a half suffocated condition. The symptoms arc alarming, in some instances the men are almost pulseless and the strongest stimulants have to be given. A party penetrated to the 300 feet level and came on three bodies.
