TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

The Premier, replying to a request made liy a rlepulntion from the Wellington Industrial Association for a Government subsidy of pound for pound in respect of the £'2600 surplus from the recent Industrial Exhibition, which it is proposed to devote to the erection ot a building for the purpose of technical education, while regretting the inability of the Government to appropriate any money except as provided by the Technical Education Act, said that Ministers were desirous in every practical way of encouraging technical education. Respecting further State assistance, he intended bringing the matter before the Cabinet, as it was necessary that technical education should have a much wider Held than at present, if it was to do benefit to the interests of the colony.
