RECOVERED FROM CONSUMPTION.
'■ HOW ONE OF ENGLAND'S. DEFENDERS WAS SAVED FROM THE GRAVE. ATTESTED BEFORE A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE. Tin: cause of temperance has no stronger advocate than Mr Charles 'Terry, a hero of the Crimean War. Towards the end of 180 G Mr Terry then (!G years of age "iVas taken very ill. and his friends knew that that awful disease consumption had him in its fearful grasp, and prompt and effective lcmedial measures were an absolute necessity. An effective remedy was discovered in Dr. Williams' Pink Pills for Pale People, and Mr Terry enjoys perfect health ; he is yet to he found urging forward the cause of temperance. To a reporter of " The Australian Military Gazette " Mr Terry gave the following account of his illness and marvellous cure : '• I arrived in Australia in the latter end of 1877 in 11.M.5. Sapphire, the lion. Captain Meny. I then joined the Diamond, under Captain Dale, on this station, and on leaving the ship quitted the service for good, having in all served in seventeen ships in Her Majesty's Royal Navy. In August of this year (1890) I found myself at Emu Plains, being in the employ of Messrs M'Orath, fellmongtrs. Ic was whilst there that I was taken ill, towards the latter end of August. I attributed my illness to exposure. My first symptoms were coughing, a spitting of blood, and a bloody discharge from the kidneys of the consistency of jelly. One man there was particularly kind to me, and constantly stayed up with mo all night, giving me eucalyptus to inhale, and continuously rubbing it into 1113' chest, throat, ai.d stomach. The man said that he didn't think I'd last long if I stayed at Emu Plains and advised me to go into a hospital. Peeling that he was likely to prove a true prophet, I followed h's advice, came to Sydney, and tool; up my abode at -IS.I, Kentstreet, where T still am living. On my arrival in Sydney I suffered from great pains in the back and sides, anil also under the ribs. I could take no solid food, and entirely subsisted on eggs and new milk. I went to eonsr.lt a doctor whose rooms I could have reached under ordinary circumstances in ten minutes, but was so hoiribly weak that it took me an hour and ten minutes to get there. He told me to strip, which I did, and he then sounded me and asked me how long 1 had been bad. 1 told him that from the first it was about eight weeks, upon which be said, " It;- chronic." Jlc suggested thai 1 .should go to a hospital at once, but 1 declined ami n turned home. I had medicine prescribed forme of various kinds, which proved quite ineffectual and afforded me no relict whatever. I took no less than seven bottles of eucalyptus, and even chloiodyne was prescribed for me. 1 fell away lamentably, perspired profusely, ami could not get any sleep. Iv.as in such pain that f could not shift in bed. My right side was much the worse, and my breathing was most laboured and painful I cannot bo too grateful to in}' friend, brother .1. C. .Jones. He would stay with me for three or four hours at a time. One day a friend of mine read to me the account of Boilermaker Jarvis' wonderful recovery by taking Dr. Williams' Pink Pills, ami I at once procured a box. 1 had taken all but two, when tho blood spitting and omission ceased. After two boxes I was aide to get up and walk about, and now, at the end of six boxes, the cure was almost complete. The cure was MACICAL, and I tell all my friends and the general public that nothing bat Dr. Williams' Pink Pills brought me once more before them to agitate the temperance question, and on each occasion I have met with a great reception. (Mr Terry here called our reporter's attention to the amount of useless physic he had consumed, and, indeed, the amount of bottles reminded one of the interior of a chemist's shop). I can speak in the highest possible terms '. of the marvellous curative properties of the Pink Pills. On my visits to, and . lectures in, the country I shall consider \ it ir.y duty to suffering humanity to recount my astounding cure, ami I trust that I may lie the means of savin;.' the life ol many a despairing mortal.
