SPORTING

WHATAWHATA RACING CLUB. The annual nicetini; of the above Club was held at the YYiiatawbata Hotel, on Saturday evening, and in spite of inclenunc weather, there was a good attendance ol members, Mr \V. W. Higgioson being voted to the chair. The Secretary read the annual statement of accounts (audited by Messrs Higg ; nson and Ferguson). This showed expenditure, £GO 9s (3d. Receipts, including balance from previous ycir, ill'2 10s 0d ; balance in hand, £3 Is ; to this must be added, fees to receive, £4 Is ; subscriptions due. £5 ; making -i totai credit balance of £l2 2s. The accounts were adoptel, and the meeting proceeded to elect a committee and officials for the ensuing year. The old committee, with the exception of Mr Thoa. Ro'.hwcli (resigned) we.'e reelected ; Messrs W. Ceach and S. Caldcr, being elected new members. The old ollicials were also re-elected, with the exocpiion of Mr Ed. Rothwell, Clerk of Course, who resigned, Mr A M. Ferguson being appointed in h : s place. Mr Ferguson kindly offered the Club the use of his course, on the same terms as hitlurto, and this was accepted. The programme for the annual race meeting, to be he'd on New Year'n Day, was then considered ; last year's programme being adhered to, with the exception of some alterations to the conditions of the Maiden I'laie, and the substitution of i Handicap Flying Stakes, in place of the Consolation Race, which latter has always proved a failure for lack of eotiies. The Secretary was authorised to make arrangements with Tjie WaIKATO Akgus for printing and advertising as heretofore, and was directed to have the programme p;sscd by the A.R.C. as soon as convenient. A vote of thanks to the Secretu-y, and a similar compliment to the Chairman, terminated the meeting.
