NGARUAWAHIA.

KOWIXO GU'll's Co.VCKKT AND DaKOE.— The members of the committee of the above club are to be congratulated on the successful nature of their annual concert and dance. The programme was by far the best ever presented to a local audience, and was ill point of fact, quite equal to some of the much-boomed city concerts. The ladies and gentlemen who took part displayed exceptional merit, and every item given was first-class. No doubt the presence of Messrs Schatz and Walton added greatly to the success of the entertainment, they both having to respond to double encores. The first song Mr Schatz sang, " The Tin Gee Gee," fairly took the house by stonn, and the audience were not slow to recogirse in this gentlemen an artist of very high merit. He thoroughly established him-elf a warm favourite, and may always rely on au enthusiastic reception from the concert patrons here. Mr Walton, who is the happy possessor of a inaguilicient bass voice, was also very successful in his efforts to please. His reputation had preceded him, and when 1 say that he fully sustaiued ic, no further comment is necessary. Miss Le Quesno anil Mr lloss, of Hamilton, both contributed their share to the evening's amusement and were well received. The following local conhibttiors did yoetuan (if one can apply this term in the case of ladies) service towards the highly successful result : Misses Butcher and Uavies, Messrs Siiniuelhng and ''aterson, and Master Joe Harris, of Huntly. As I have had the pleasure on former occasions of criticising their efforts, I need not particulate; them on the present occasion, further than to fay that they never were heard to better advantage. The programme concluded with a burlesque, " Dombastes Fnrioso," which was most niccessful. The usual dance followed, which wound tip a record evening's amusement. The attendance of tho public was very large and close on £l2 was netted, which will greatly help the club along in funds.— (Own Correspondent).
