pAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD. The PATH between Victona Road and Grosvenor-strcet, in tlie Lake Reserve, is CLOSED during improvements. TIIOS. vVELLS, Chairman. Cambridge, 14th August, 1807. _ CHIEF BRAND CLOTHING FACTORY has been greatly enlarged to meet the demand. LINSEED OIL CAKE! Ukequalled i'ob Rearing and Fattening Stock of all Kinds. TfALUE AS A FOOD FOR STOCK : V lib of Oil Cake contains as much food as 171 b of Turnips. NO CALF SHOULD BE REARED WITHOUT OIL CAKE.—The expense of Oil Cake is the objection usually made to its use. We can show tint it is more ecor.oirical to use it, and makes money for the user. Quarter of a pound per day of Oil Cake in separated or skim milk will cost under '2s for the period during which the Calf requires special feeding. The improvement in the weight and condition of the Calf is worth several times that amount, besides giving it a sound constitution. Starved Calves mean Weedy Cattle. For use the finely-ground Oil Cake h best prepared by steeping in boiling water for 12 hours before using (cold water will do, but hot is preferable), and adding either to heated separated milk, skim milk, buttermilk, or whey. BULLOCKS —lt has been proved that stall-feeding pays in New Zealand. We have supplied a considerable amount of Oil Cake for this purpose, and the cust' mers are all well pleased with the results. The enhanced value of the manure produced by the use of Oil Cake is in itself an important factor in this system. MILK COWS.—A large number of our friends give their milk cows a small quantity of Oil Cake, and find they are well repaid by the increased flow and richer quality of the milk, and the unproved condition of the cows. OIL CAKE FOR SHEEP.—We beg to draw the attention of sheep-owners to the fact that we are now grioding our OIL CAKE AS FINE AS MEAL. 11l this form sheep can easily be fed on Oil Cake by mixing it in any proportion desired with chat!, and it is such a nutritious food that even a small quantity iu the
ton of chair enormously increases the value of the latter as a fooil, and will also improve the wool clip. ADVANTAGES OF USING OIL CAKE FOR SHEEP. 1. The .Medicinal Action of the Oil in the Cake—lt acts as n corrective to the " coldness " of the turnips, and the " dryness ; ' of the chaff, prevents the tendency to inflammation, and keeps the sheep generally in good condition. '2. The pre-eminent value of the Oil Cake consists in its richness as a food. It stands at the top of the list of nutritious foods ; and it is perhaps not 100 natch to say that a judicious use of Oil Cake in feeding sheep during winter would do much to advance New Zealand mutton to a still higher place in the London Market than it at present occupies. HORSES, CATTLE AND STUD SHEEP FOR SHOW PURPOSE?.— For keeping this class in good condition and bringing them up to a first-rate "show" style, Oil Cake surpasses all other foods. This is well known to breeders of prize stock. W. SOUTER & CO. AOKNTS, CAMBRIDGE AND OHAUTO. W.
