CABLE SUMMARY.
TnE funeral of Senor CanoTas, the late Spanish Premier, took place on Saturday. The pull-bearers included Senor Sagasta, the leader of the Liberal party, and Marshal Campos. An immense assemblage witnessed the ceremonies, and profound emotion was displayed. The route taken by the cortege was carpeted with laurels. "When the shell containing the body was leaving the mortuary chapel Senora Canovas exclaimed, " I forgive the assassin, because I know Canovas had a great heart." The Purified Gold Estates Company of Hauraki, New Zealand, has been formed with a capital of £175,000, of which £75,000 is being issued to the public. The Paris Press expresses the fear that the success which has attended the special mission of Mr J. E. Eodd, tbc British envoy, is so great, that French efforts in Abyssinia will be furfile unless tho Government take energetic action.
