PIRONGIA.
The Wkatheb.—The weather we have of late experienced here has been very bad, and its effect on our roads has been to make then; almost impassable in the upper Waipa districts. A lot of sickness is nearly all there is to report litre. Out of door work is out of the question.
Athlktic Club. —The committee of the Waipa Amateur Athletic Club held a meeting at Mrs Finch's Hotel on Saturday last, for the purpose of appointing a new secretary, Mr I. Hodgson having resigned that position. Mr Hodgson's resignation was received with regret, but is unavoidable, as he is leaving the district. Mr George Berry was unanimously appointed to the office, and will, no doubt, fulfil the duties of the office as satisfactorily as his predecessor. As in consequence of the large outlay by the Club in forming the running track and improving the grounds generally, the Club's funds require strengthening, it was therefore re olved that a fancy dress ball be held in the Public Hall iu aid of thu Club, due notice of which will bo given.—(Own Correspondent).
