The 'Waikato Akgus Office, Wednesday. McNICOL AND CO.’S OHAUPO SALE. At Messrs MoNieol and Co.’s sale on Tuesday, about 130 head were offered, of a mixed quality. Dairy cows were fairly represented, but most of them were of a medium description, and several were passed ; grown steers were not in demand, but young stock sold fairly well. The weather was bitterly cold and wet, which, no doubt, had a damping effect upon the minds, as well as the bodies of the buyers. Dairy cows, sold from £3 to £4 15s ; springing heifers, from £2 17s Gd to £4 T2s Cd ; steer calves, 27s 6d ; two and a-half year-old empty heifers, in good condi- » tion, from £2 10s ro £2 ISs ; coarse two-year-old steers, £2 ; IS-months old steers, 35s ; fresh empty cows, from £2 1.5 s to £2 17s Gd : yearling heifers, 2.5 s ; small fat steers, £4 14s. Sheep : About 1000 were yarded, all of a good class and in good condition. The sale dragged a bit under the hammer, but eventually all were sold, with the exception of two pens of ewes. Ewes, in lamb, from 7s Bd to 9s ; wether hoggets, 7s ; fourtooth weathers, from 0* (id to 10s 2d ; three pens of (he latter being sold by Mr J. H. Scott, of I’atcrangi, and were brought by Mr Roger Kay, and were a real good line. MU \V. J. HUNTER’S CLEARING SALE AT NGARUAWAHIA. Mr W. J. Hunter Reports At Mr Saulsbury’s clearing sale, which was held on the premises to-day, without reserve, there was a largo attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, and also from the goldfields. Bidding was spirited and all the lines were cleared at satisfactory prices. The cows, which were all in good condition, and many of them to calve by the end of the month, brought up to £l3 7s (id, the average price being about £4 10s. Heifer calves sold at ISs ; mixed yearlings, 2Ss ; one and a-half year-old heifers, 33s ; one and a-half and two-year-old steers, £2 Ss ; medium draught horses, £7 to £l4 ; light hacks, £2 to £4 ; plough harness, ISs to 21s per set ; disc harrows, £4 2s (Jd ; factory cans, 12s to 24s ; milk dishes, 2s ; spring cart, £lO ; harness, £2 10s ; and sundries at good figures. Messrs Hunter, and Nolan report : —At Tuesday’s sale, in the Durham Yards, hides sold at a slight improvement upon the previous week's prices. Stout ox hides sold from 4’d to s:,'d per lb ; medium do, 3-Jd to 4,{d ; cow, 2!d to 3d ; steer, 2Jd to 3{d : calfskins, 3LI to 4-M ; sheepskins, Is 0d to -Is Sd ; pelts, (id to Is. Wool, 4d to old per lb ; tallow, lls to 12s Gd per cwt. ; bones, £3 10s per ton. The usual number of horses were entered at Friday’s sale, but values showed no improvement. Heavy draught sold from £9 to £l7 10s; light harness, £3 10a to £8 ; hacks, £3 to £7 15 s. At the Junction Yards last Tuesday theie was a good muster of fat cattle, but prices for beef showed no alteration. Steers sold from £5 5s to £S ss, and fat cows £4 to £5 17s (id. About the usual number of dairy cattle was entered aud these sold from £3 to £7. Two to tbrcc-year-old steers brought £2 15s to £3 10s ; eighteen months old steers, £1 ISs Gd to £2 ; calves, 19s to 255. Hardly ns many sheep were olfered as usual. Wethers fetched from Us Gd to Iss Gd ; ewes, Gs 9d to 10s (id ; hoggets, 7s bd to 10s Gd. A good number of pigs was entered.
