" CASTE."

Hamilton was long famous for its amateur dramatic performances, which under the Comus and other dramatic societies, leached a high degree of excellence. Time and inevitable change have, however, dispersed, most ol tlmso who look parts in such performances, and for sonic time matters dramatic have been allowed to slumber. We mo, however, pleased to hear that a new generation of actors is about to take the boards, and assisted by a few of the ohh r hands once more revive the glories of the past. Mr Swarbrick, for many years Stage .Manager of the (,'oirus Club, has succeded in organizing a niost coin potent dramatic company, whose initial performance we announce in another column. The play selected is Robertson's maserpieco " Caste," one. of the best written comedies in the Knglish language, and one which, whilst it demands most careful tiding, never fails to delight the most critical audience. Tim company fully appreciate the mpiiionients ol the play and have devoted months to careful Mudy and rehersal, and the audience may rely upon the comedy being presented with all the completeness and finish to which it is possible lor amateurs to attain. Nothing wdl be omitted in tlie way of now scenery and appointments, and we venture to pi edict one of the most enjoyable entertainments ever held in llamilten. This performance has an additional claim on the support id' the public, inasmuch as the proceeds will be devoted to the fund lor building a new public library for 1 lamilton.
