The above Beard met in the office yesterday at 2.150 p.m. There were present : —lMcssr: T. Wells (chairman), R. Kirkwood and E. Allen A New Noxious Wei:c— When cultivat.ng the Cambridge West Recreation Ground, Mr W. Tucker had found a weed with which he was unacquainted. It had leaves that were priclily on both sides, one! was a most undesirable addition to our already large stock of noxious weeds. Mr Tucker took some of the weed to the Chairman, and Mr Wells forward-d it on to Mr dice cman, the curator of the Auckland Museum, asking what the name of it was.—Mr Cheeseman answered as follows :—" Your packet containing some samples of a weed from the Cambridge Domain, was safely received. The specimens are all very immature ; so much so that I cannot be quite certain as to what species it is. Would you kindly send me one or two in a more advanced stage, showing flower.", if possible '! I will then send you its name and ether particulars."—Previous te> the receipt of this letter as a precautionary measure Mr Wells had asked Mr Tucker to get the weed era* dicatcd and Mr Allen had nuclei taken to see that it was done.—Mr Tucker evidently rarried out his part of the contact, for w hen Mr Wells asked him to find more of the weed to send to Mr Checscman, he replied : " I put in half a day endcavt uring to finel some more of the weed 1 brought to you, but although I made diiigent search all over the paddeck, lam pleased to say I failed to fi; d any mere. However, I came across a quanti'y of seedling docks and a few plants of fat hen which I dug up and carried away ;so my time was not altogether lost." Defaultim! Lksskks. —The Chairman said there was great trout le in getting the authority to sue defaulting lessees, for the Lands and Survey Department would insist on treating the application of the: Board as if it was for authority to re-enter on the lands as well as to sue. The re-entering was an important matter that needed much formality, but he fe!t cut tain that a general authority to sue all tenants over two quarters in an cars with their lents could be obtaincd. —The Board authorised the chairman to elo his best to get the authority, and it lie is successful proceedings will at once be taken against all defaulters.
