TE RORE.

Late School Committee Election.—lt would appear that the late School Committee clect'on in oir district is not going to pass off as peacefully as should he the ease, as there is a rumour afloat that an attempt will be made to have the meeting declared void, on the grounds that the balance-sheet should not have been adopted at Ihe meeting as it was not signed by the auditor as correct, and that one of the new committee was not legally elected. It appears that the balance-sheet was not signed by the auditor, while only six could be induced to stand as candidates ; Mid as the number required to form the committee was seven, one gentleman who was not at the mee ing was nominated. So should the matter come before the Boa-d of Education there is every probability of the election being declared void.

Fat Stock —lt appears that we can hold our own in the markets with fat sheep, as a very noticeable feature in Mr Hunter's late sheep fair at Ohanpo, the top-priced sheep all came from tur district. In fat wethers Mr J. M. Krippner topped the market, getting 10s 6d for two pens, and in fat ewes Mr W. T. Mead way came out on top, while Mr Hodgson had undoubtedly the brst lambs in the sale, which were withdrawn at what might be called the veiy good price of 8s GI each. In the cattle sale on the. same day we were again to the fore, Mr Rice "topping the market in calves.

Axcsemext.-. —Like our larger sisters, the other districts of Waikato, we are iv t to be left behind in the matter of indoor amusements, as the monthly socials will commence on Friday evening next under the manigement of the local ciieket club, and, no doubt, enjoyable evenings will be spent by those who venture out monthly. A small charge will be made to gentlemen for admission, which, after paying expenses, will be handed over to the club's funds. (Own Correspondent).
