PAEROA-WAIHI RAILWAY.
* (ill TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT). Fakuua, Last Night. At a meeting of the Ohiuenviri County Council, held last evening, Mr R. R. Hunt ami Capf. Morris attended in connection wiili an application made by the IS cw Zealand Exploration Company for permission to construct a light railway to Waiiii from Paeroa. Mr Hunt explained the concessions asked for by the company. The cost of the railway was estimated at £50,000, and the time required to complete it was about two and a-ha'f years. The capabilities of the service would bo guaranteed sulliciuit for the requirements of the district. After considerable discussion, in which the numbers seemed favourable to the proposa', provided the Government did not undertake the work, the matter was adjourned to examine the proposed route and arrange for the guarantee.
