WAITETUNA

Social. —The usual social and dance under the management of the Raglan Social and Dramatic Club, came otf in the Tublie Hall, Raglan, on Friday last. There was not such a large master as usual. However, those who were proFen t seemed to enjoy themselves. The music was Uind'y supplied by Mrs Raslriok, and was all that could be desired. Mr V. Moon acted as M.C. Several songs were given during the evening, and were much appreciated. Dancing was indulged in with undimiLished vigour until about '2 o'clock iu the morning.

Wkaskia—The Government pets, the wease's, have again made their appearance in this district. One day last week a eat caught a very large weasel, and after a great battle it unfortunately escaped, but not before taking a piece ous of the cat's leg.

Shooting Season.—The shooting season for imported game opened on Saturday and a number of sportsmen were out, but I have not heard of any heavy bags being obtained. Pheasants are not particularly plentiful this season.

School Committee. —The annual meeting of householders of the Waitetuua School District was held in the schoolroom on Monday. L'tith Apiil. The attendance was small and very little interest seemed to have been taken ill the proceedings. Mr R. V. Smith, Chairman of the School Committee, presided, and read the report and balancesheet for tlie past year, which shewed a veiy sa isfaetory state of affairs. Both report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted, after which the election of the committee took place. Messrs R. V. Smith, K. Ii Hill and C. H Sweetman had hem nominated previous to the meeting, and Messrs J. A. La Trobe and G. II. v Moon at the meeting. There being no other were declared duly elected.
